The pond in front of our farmhouse and Grike behind - it was a fine
morning
so a good day to walk around Ennerdale. The area is deliberately being
wilded and is inaccessible by vehicles
but walkers are welcome. We walked past Grike Cottage and the Old
Mill
and crossed the River Ehen
and made our way along the path towards the lake
finally coming down to walk beside it for a short distance
Great Born and Bowness Knott
before taking a footpath to lead us up over Angler's Crag. There is
a path by the lake, but it is a little difficult in
places - and the views are better higher up.
Revelin Crag was some way above us
The vies stretched to the sea
From the top of Angler's Crag there is a good view eastwards along
the lake
Eventually the path led down. In the distance on the right is Pillar
The lake is surrounded by fells
I got down to the Lakeside several minutes ahead of the group who
were descending cautiously and walked
a little back along the path towards Anglers Crag before returning to wait
Over the crag the path leads down to the waterside
Across the water is Bowness Knott, with behind it Herdus / Great Borne
and other fells to the right
Some rocky bits on the hillside behind looking up towards Crag Fell
looking back along the path towards Angler's Crag
