The cleaners including Alberto Durango walked into the Royal Opera
House foyer and Alberto Durango began
to speak to those waiting there about the victimisation of the six
cleaners and to ask for support
Security moved towards him and told him to stop
and asked him to leave. The light is very low and the colour in pictures
without flash was very poor
I didn't use flash because I didn't wnat to drwa attention to the
protesters or to be told to leave
so most of the pictures inside here were taken by the available light
and are shown here in black and white
As I was leaving I took a flash picture of a cleaner just behind me
being esorted out
and the first few pictures on the pavement outside I also made using
flash
as the cleaners got out flags and posters to continue their protest
on the pavement
As well as making a great deal of noise, some were handing out leaflets
explaining that 6 workers were being
victimised for their trade uinion acttivities and asking the public
to support them
There were several strong lights casting shadows, though mainly from
the wrong direction to light the cleaners well
but I manage to take pictures without flash
though several powerful lights caused excessive flare when shining
into my lenses
and limited taking pictures
