Belper - World Heritage Site

Derwent Valley, Derbyshire. Wed 30 Dec 2015

  

 
 This channel in the Riverside Gardens was dug to bring water to power the North Mill

 

 

 The stream goes to the left in front of the East Mill, then turns and flows underneath close to the left edge

 of the building

 and along its East side

 to a low building where it still turns turbines to generate electricity for the site

 Gates on the east side of the East Mill are raised to allow the flow

Bridge across the Ashbourne road (Bridge Foot) which ran through the mill complex 

Courtaulds modern building with examples of the stockings made at Belper in its windows
