The march goes past the arches on the entrance to Hyde Park
and past Number 1 London
and around the large roundabout
before turning off and marching through the arch
where they stop for photographs
and more noisy chanting against slavery and that 'African Lives Matter!'
with more drumming
and raised fists
There is already a crowd outside the Libyan Embassy - a woman holds
up a poster 'Where is the African Union?'
and others hold up posters against slavery and shout
At the front are a few Black Muslims with an African priest in white
who is getting ready to speak and perform an African libation ceremony
in memory of the many Africans who have fought for their people against
enslavement and colonialism
including Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X and many more.
with each name he pours some water onto the ground
people in the crord shout out names for him to honour and he adds
them
finally finishing by putting his whisk in the bowl and shaking it
in all directions, blessing us for coming to protest
By this time I'm feeling a little faint with a slight diabetic hypo,
and have to make my way out of the crowd so I can
rest and have something to raise my sugar levels - as I go on to another
event.
