Grenfell
North Kensington, London. Sat 17 Jun 2017
All around the area are posters with photographs of those who are
missing
People stand around and look at the burnt out Grenfell tower
Notting Hill Methodist Church is one of the main centres where people
have gathered and victims have been supported
Grenfell Tower from the church. Police barriers prevent a closer approach
People havve brought flowers, candles, notes, paintings....
and can talk with the Response Pastors here
The volunteer relief centres have been overwhelmed by people bringing
food, clothes, toys and other donations. Though the official response has
been tardy and often niggardly, ordinary people have been generous
and opened their hearts to the victims
People are still bringing flowers and candles to light
Churches and mosques were quick to give support. The local council
was seen to fail. A long notice on a wall
asks some of the questions residents have about RBKC and its TMO,
a litany of failure
The missing notices are on the boards of neighbouring estates
People walk towards Grenfell Tower with flowers to pay their respects
to those killed
Even in the wealthy streets there are some posters of the missing
