Golden Boat Award for Serota

Tate Britain, London. Thu 25 May 2017

PCS members get together outside Chelsea school of art for their protest at Tate Britain

THe pCS Cuutre Group were appalled when low paid workers were asked to contribute to a leveing present of a boat

for director Nicolas Serota and decided to start an annual Golden Boat Award with him as the first recipient

Grim Chip of of Poetry on the Picket Line (Chip Hamer) had come along to perform in support

'A Boat? I can barely afford my rent!' . Many at the Tate are on or near minimum wage, on zero hours contracts

employed with lousy conditions of service by Securicor - a cheapskate move to save the Tate from giving its

staff proper pay and conditions. Staff from the EU are worried that they may have to leave after Brexit.

They march to the staff entrance behind the banner 'Love Tate Hate Low Pay'

and picket at the entrance where guests are coming to Nicolas Serota's leaving party

which low paid staff who had been asked to contribute to his yacht were not invited
