Aintree Rd
On the corner of Wadsworth Rd, which unfortunately we didn't have
time to explore
Bideford Avenue
Art Deco architecture designed by Wallis, Gilbert and Partners (1933).
Hoover abandoned the building in the
early 1980s and it along with some adjoining houses was purchased
by Tesco in 1989
Tesco appear to have looked after it fairly well
The adjacent building from 1938 was the Hoover canteen and is now
an Asian restaurant
They were Grade II* listed in 1980 and 1981 respectively
The building housing Lloyds bank and shops and flats has an interesting
facade
The Hoover Building is obscured by an ugly fence as the upper floors
are bing coverted into 66 luxury 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments.
On the other side of Western Avenue is St Mary the Virgin Perivale,
now used for concerts, with just an occasional service
It and the graveyard are kept up buy volunteers
Many of the monuments had been vandalised, and are slowly being restored
