Focus E15 - 3 years of resistance

 More dancing outside Wilkos on Stratford Broadway to celebrate 3 years of campaigning for housing locally for local people

 and against Newham's policies of moving people out - ethnic cleansing. They aim to move the area upmarket
with expensive flats rather than housing poor local residents and the thousands on the housing list

 and have kept hundreds or thousands of council properties empty - some on the Carpenters Estate empty since 2004

 

 Jasmin starts a conga

 and others join in front and behind until there are around 30 people snaking around the pavement

 

 

 while a few stand watching - and still handing out leaflets to passers by.

 

 

 
 
 

 

Time for some more speeches at the end of the party - and we hear a speaker from Boundary House Residents Fight Back.

Families from Waltham Forest are being housed in Boundary House in Welwyn Garden City, over 20 miles away,

in single rooms intended for nursing students which is damp and unhealthy, cockroach infested and  

with third floor windows through which children can easily fall. We are asked to join the protest there on October 28th. 

Then people get together for a group photograph 

and there are some final remarks 

including a woman complainging that Newham Mayor Robin Wales will not see her
