Leaseholders are being offered at least £100,000 less than similar property in the area sells for.

and formerly responsible for housing the borough 

gets shouted down by housing campaigners 

Some try to stop the shouting, saying we all have to work together against the Housing Act, but Southwark is 

pursuing policies which have similar consequences to the Act - selling off council houses and building properties 

almost entirely for market rents, resulting in social cleansing. Their opposition to the Act is probably because 

they think it may cut their profits from selling off council housing - not to provide the social housing that is needed.
