Carnegie Library Occupation Ends

Carnegie Library, Herne Hill, London. Sat 9 Apr 2016

Just around the corner from the library is a school

The crowd on the library steps are people who have been a part of the occupation - but the council was not

allowing anyone who left the building back in

A trade unionist supports the campaign to save the libraries

people were peering out through the closed metal gate at a large crowd outside or around a thousand people

Author Atelloa Duffy who lives in the area speaks

These twins made the newspapers for their part in the library occupation

  Toby Litt speaks

'Don't Steal our Libraries'

The steps are cleared ready for the occupiers to come out. The council went to court and they were given 24 hours to leave

a council employee unlocks the gates

behind the gates the occupiers are ready to emerge

And they come out to loud applause

and jump down the steps with their banner
