Kurdish PJAK remembers its martyrs

Trafalgar Square, London. Sat 15 Aug 2015

Iranian Kurds celebrate the martyrs of the PJAK

Formed in Iran to fight against the Iranian regime to seek self-determination for Kurds in Iran and protect their culture

The PJAK was formed as a peaceful student movement in the 1990s, but after Iranian repression took up arms

The PJAK have their base in Iraqi Kurdistan, a few miles from the border with Iran

They have become closely aligned with the PKK and the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan who is in a Turkish Jail

The PJAK is banned in Turkey, Iran and the USA who consider them a terrorist group

Many in the armed wing (YRK) of the PJAK are women - the women's wing is the KJAR

Some waved flags with the image of Abdullah Ocalan

A poster stresses their link with the PKK. They told me they simply work in different regions, the PJAK in Eastern Kurdistan

A poster shows both ISIS and Iran as murderous regimes, ISIS beheading and Iran hanging any opposition
