Police threaten Runnymede Magna Carta festival

Runnymede Eco-Village, Surrey. Fri 12 Jun 2015

'Free Hugs & Smiles in the forest community (see general love) and it truly is a friendly and welcoming place

Kettles on the fire for tea - and anyone approaching was offered a choice of various infusions

The community is drug-free - except for tea, coffee, tobacco and there were a few people drinking beer at the festival

Visitors donate food, people collect out of date food from shops. Some in the community work outside. People share.

and tidy up after themselves, at least after a little prompting!

Outside the Long House people were talking around the fire

Vinny takes us on a tour. Some people have rather more professional skills than others!

This is a home a woman built around a fallen tree

which you can sit on or put things on top of - it runs all through the single room

and comes out on the other side. People collect stuff from demolition sites

and old furniture that people are throwing out. Relations with surrounding residents are generally good - people at

the Village Centre had many good things to say about them and the work that they did in largely informal education

and in clearing the rubbish that had been dumped on the disused forest site over the years before they came

We stopped to talk with Luke, a trained forester. He told us the forest had been sadly neglected by its various owners
