Hull and Hornsea

Hull & Horsea. Fri 3 & Sat 4 Oct 2014

 King Billy

remained firmly on his horse, though we weren't there at midnight when he is supposed to jump off and go

 to a nearby pub.

Ye Olde White Harte is a Victorian re-imagining of a pub which opened here around 1660, and was one of Larkin's favourites.
The story that it was here that the town came to the decision to refuse entry to King Charles in 1642 thus starting the Civil War is unlikely.
Its main claim to infamy comes from the 1960s when it was a target for feminists as it refused to serve women.
