Sainsbury's told Stop Selling Illegal Goods

Whitechapel High St and Sainsbury's, London. Sat 27 Sep 2014

As well as leafleting and making speeches, the protesters were also selling some Palestinian goods

The protest was organised by the Tower Hamlets and Jenin Friendship Association

The protest was particularly aimed at Sainsbury's, who have a large store a minute's walk away, where they

are selling goods produced in settlements on occupied territory against international law

This protest was one in an international BDS campaign - calling for a boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel

Most of the wide pavement here is lined on one side by shops and on the other by market stalls - such as this one

The protesters were in front of the local library - called an Idea Store - which has a long section without doors

When people were not speaking, there was Palestinian music playing - and some people tried to dance

The slogan on the cards about Sainsbury's was 'Sainsbury's Taste the Indifference'

Among those taking part and speaking was local GP Dr Anna Livingstone

'Sainsbury's - Taste the Indifference'

Most of the protesters left to walk to protest at Sainsbury's
