Congolese Election Protests Continue

Gt Portland St-Downing St, London. Wed 14 Dec 2011

The police were keeping the march waiting and tempers were rising with a lot of noisy arguments, mainly in French

The arguments continue, with some wanting to start and not wait for the police to give the go-ahead

but the organisers and stewards told them they must wait

The police kept coming to tell the marchers they had to wait for a few more minutes, but finally they were told they could make a start

A woman wearing a Tshisekedi t-shirt holds a poster 'More Than 8,000,000 Congolese Killed'

Finally, almost an hour after the marchers were ready, police let the march start and make its way down Regent St

with the stewards rather getting in the way of the photographers in front of the banner and children

It was easier to photograph further back in the crowd. A poster lies blame where it belongs with the mining companies
