Refugee Week Umbrella Parade

Embankment Gardens to South Bank, London. Sunday 19 June 2011

The parade set off, led by the band.

Because the police were not prepared to stop traffic for the march, they decided to avoid roads

so walked through the park and then along the pavement

They walked under Hungerford Bridge, and I took these from the east footbridge

and then climbed the steps to cross on the west side

The freedom from torture banner and the plaque reminding me this is now called the Jubilee bridge.
This was as close as we got to the Houses of Parliament,
which was a slight disappointment as I hoped we would parade past Big Ben.
