Belper

Market Square

You can see the countryside from the centre of the town

River Derwnet

Belper's treated sewage going into the Derwent

These were either llamas or mutant sheep

The Strutts built their North and East mills here to use the renewable energy from the Derwent

The older North Mill in front of the 1912 East Mill has a textile museum. A large area of the Derwent Valley is

a World Heritage Site, and the North Mill is an important site within that

The Strutts went on to take manufacturing industry to the USA

The 1912 East Mill is on an impressive scale. Across the road the current Courtauld factory looks pretty insignificant

compared to this.
