 From our hotel window we could see Great Ancoats St

 and the Ashton Canal

 

 Under the brdige is the short New Islington arm

 From the end of our corridor there was a view roughly south towards Piccadilly Station

 and by the lifts another window looked out to distant hills

 Ashton Canal. At right is the Vulcan and Albion Mills, now converted to flats

 

 The Islington Branch, just over 100 metres long now - it used to be about twice as long

 Refuge Assurance Building 1891 by Alfred Waterhouse, extended 1910 and 1912 by his son Paul Waterhouse, and further extended in 1930s

A hotel since 1987 it was renamed 'The Principal Manchester' in November 2016.
